We are a privately owned, RCVS accredited, independent practice seeking an additional experienced small animal vet to join the team at Melton Mowbray.
BRAND NEW PREMISIS OPENING SPRING 2025!
We are eagerly anticipating the opening of our brand-new premises in spring next year, just a stone’s throw from our current practice. This move will provide us with much more space and as such we are looking to expand our team! The new practice will include dedicated client parking, separate dog and cat waiting rooms and hospitals, 5 consulting rooms, two theatres and dedicated dental and x ray suite along with space for a CT scanner in our future plans!
A keen interest in surgery and/or imaging would be advantageous – preferably a certificate holder or keen to undertake one.
As a practice we strive to combine the provision of exceptional, bespoke care with progressive current best practice in veterinary medicine. Our clinical club meetings are a great way to discuss cases and exchange ideas, and we hold additional in-house CPD days for the whole team to continually improve and advance our standards. We are also members of the XLVets community, collaborating with other likeminded independent practices; sharing knowledge, ideas and skills.
We offer a four-day week for full time staff as a good work-life balance is essential to maintain the high demands of veterinary life. The diary is always adjusted to make way for important appointments, family events and emergencies. There is time built into the working day for phone calls and administration. Our team are fully involved in practice decisions.
We take pride in caring for our own patients out of hours. Our experienced, dedicated night nurse team ensure we offer 24-hour on-site care, as well as taking the out of hours phone calls. Our veterinary surgeons take part in an equally shared rota, maximum of 1:5 though currently 1:9. Following a weekend on call, vets are entitled to the Monday off as well as an additional half day in the week. Vets also have the option of changing their usual day off to the Friday in the preceding week to allow for a long weekend, which is very popular among the team! Any weeknight on call shifts are followed by a half day off in the week!
