Veterinary Nursing Students

There are two routes to becoming qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN); either through vocational (college) training or via a higher education (university degree) qualification. Both routes lead to registration as a veterinary nurse with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). More information can be found here.

When staff availability allows, Rutland and Kings vets are happy to accept applications from degree student veterinary nurses. Here’s some more information about what a placement might look like for you at our practice.

What we expect from our student nurses and what they can expect in return

We offer students the opportunity to work in all areas of practice. We have a variety of specialist RVNs and clinical supervisors to support students at all times.

Students will be involved in all areas of practice and fully supported by the RVN team at all times. They are expected to lead their training and progression and college work themselves, with regular tutorials with their clinical supervisor to assist and aid their progression. We aim to have degree students fully competent in practical skills before they leave us.
